Love Joy Malicay, CFIF information officer, said the Cebu exhibition 2002 was able to achieve its good performance despite a drop in buyer attendance to 1,187 from 1,500 buyers last year.

She said there were observations that in the other furniture shows worldwide in recent months, there seemed to have been a drop in buyer attendance too.

The Philippine furniture show has traditionally been a one-show, two-venue affair. But this year, Cebu furniture players decided to put up their own show, so they could have more control over the promotions. Practically all of Cebu furniture is exported, while Manila players have a domestic market.

Malicay said the furniture exporters were particularly elated at having met many new buyers, since these would add to their existing buyers, who already know how to visit Cebu Philippines or make orders any time of the year.
