HINABI - A New Twist to an Old Fiber Craft

Fiber craft is an old Philippine tradition. It has been part of our traditional crafts industry, growing out as a backyard industry and growing consistently through the years. In the 1970s, the Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines launched the Crafts Development Program to boost the potential of Philippine Traditional Crafts. This program paved the way for the Fiber Development Program, which in turn introduced the design and market potential of local fiber craft.

Today, in an effort to continually enhance the potential and possibilities in fiber craft, the PDDCP is updating its Materials Development Program with an initial focus on identifying and documenting new possibilities of local fibers for commercial use.
